Part of the second generation of the BMW 3 Series, the E30s developed from a coupe to a sedan to a convertible to a station wagon (often called a Touring) before going out of production. This 325i is a convertible, first developed in 1985, with a rare removable hard top. Most 325i convertibles only came equipped with a traditional soft top.
The 1988 BMW E30s produced specifically for the North American market are distinctive for their shortened anodized aluminum bumpers. The 1984-1987 models had much longer bumpers—colloquially called diving boards—while the 1989-1994 models have plastic bumpers the same color as the body of the car, so 1988s were unique.
