The Jaguar XJ (the X standing for experimental and the J standing for Jaguar) is British automobile manufacturer Jaguar’s flagship vehicle and has been since 1970. Introduced in September 1968, it was the last Jaguar to have input from company founder Sir William Lyons. Reviews of the car were favorable, calling it “the finest Jaguar ever,” but a new transmission in 1970 kicked things into high gear. The improved acceleration and shift quality gave performance-orientated drivers what they craved.

This Jaguar XJ6 is a Series III, built between 1979 and 1992, and the last of the first generation. The 6 in XJ6 stands for its 6-cylinder engine, which was switched out for a V-12 engine in 1987. It has a top speed of 124 mph and can go from zero to sixty in 10.5 seconds. While 132,952 Series IIIs were produced, no car collection is complete without a Jaguar XJ, the epitome of the modern full-sized luxury car.
